Michele Peterson is a travel writer and communications consultant covering food, drink and sun destinations in the world’s most amazing places. She had a busy site and blog running on a theme we had chosen four years ago, and the site ran under her own name – http://www.michelepeterson.com.

She was approached by an island nation in the Caribbean to ask if she would be willing to have ‘A Taste for Travel’, her blog brand, be an official destination ambassador for their country.

We decided to split out the two sites, keeping her article clippings, awards, and news about her writing on the personally branded site and move everything else over to a new blog-focused domain, http://www.atastefortravel.ca.

This project involved meticulous back ups, restoring to a test/offline server for live development work, and then backing up that completed site and migrating it over to the new domain, hosted through the screaming-fast servers at GreenGeeks.ca. We then had to pull out all of the blog content from the old site and write 301 redirects to keep the search engine juice, and reorganize the old remaining content into a non-blog style vanilla wordpress site.

Project time: 6 weeks. Site Package: Light Overhaul, $3-5k budget range.

“Big thanks to the incredible Laurie McConnell for creating this beautiful new website and not “unfriending” me in the process!” – Michele Peterson
